Meet the Team
My name is Savreen Kaur Rangi and I am your 2017-2018 New York State HOSA President. Savreen is a senior at Thomas A. Edison CTE High School located in Queens, NY. She is enrolled in a hands-on, Medical Assisting Program and attends the Medical Scholars Program at Plaza College. Savreen aspires to become a pediatric cardiologist, a psychologist or possibly pursue a career as a forensic analyst with the FBI. She is a member of several varsity sports teams at school and is an active member in the National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, New York State Science Honor Society and SkillsUSA. She is honored to serve as your 2017-2018 President and is excited to spend the next year serving HOSA and working with all the amazing HOSA members!
My name is Sukhpreet Kaur and I am your 2017-2018 NYS HOSA Senior Vice President and Treasurer. Sukhpreet is a senior at Thomas A. Edison CTE High School, in the Medical Assisting program. She will graduate as a certified medical assistant. She is also enrolled in the Medical Scholars Program at Plaza College and volunteers at New York Presbyterian Queens Hospital. Sukhpreet is involved in numerous honor societies at school and is an “A” student. She plans to pursue a career as a physician's assistant or a medical doctor. She has been a HOSA member since her sophomore year and served as her chapter’s Co-President in 2016 -2017. She has been fortunate to not only attend the NYS Fall and Spring Leadership Conferences, but also the International Leadership Conferences in Nashville in 2016 and Orlando in 2017, finishing as a top 10 finalist in the Clinical Specialties event.
My name is Mauria Singh and I am your 2017-2018 NYS HOSA Secretary and Historian. Mauria Singh is a senior attending Thomas A. Edison CTE High School in Queens, NY. She will graduate in June 2018 as a certified medical assistant. This year she was selected to participate in the STEP C21 Program at New York University. She is also enrolled in the Medical Scholars program at Plaza College, earning college credits in several courses. Mauria just completed her tenure as her school’s 2016-2017 HOSA chapter co-president. Outside of school, Mauria dedicates a lot of her free time volunteering with her local veterinarian and with the Wildlife Conservation Society at the New York City Central Park Zoo and intends on attending college to become a veterinarian.
My name is Nicole Welka and I am thrilled to be your 2017-2018 Region E Vice President and Parliamentarian. Nicole is a Senior at Byron-Bergen Jr/Sr High school and a second year student at GVEP BOCES working toward her CNA license. After high school Nicole intends on pursuing her education at college or joining the Navy and ultimately become a veterinarian. Nicole dedicates her time volunteering at local nursing homes and animal shelters trying to make the world a better place. She looks forward to working with each of you this year and making this HOSA year the best one yet.
